Weight Loss Journey - Focus on Gaining Health, not just on Losing Weight.

Regardless of the reason one has for embarking on a weight loss journey, it is imperative that the focus should first be on Gaining Health, not just on Losing Weight, and 3 things I would always emphasize to my patients who come see me for help to lose weight.

There are many ways to lose weight, including many unhealthy, unsafe and unsustainable ones, therefore regardless of what one chooses to do to lose weight, it is important to always focus on safety, prioritise health and aim for sustainability. Just because certain methods, diets, programmes have proven to be effective in helping one lose weight, it does not mean that they are safe, healthy or even sustainable. In evaluating and making choices on what to do to lose weight, the goal must be to lose weight safely, healthily and sustainably.
